Safe Water Network was co-founded by the late actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman. Safe Water Network is one of his legacy charities. Newman’s Own Foundation has supported our work since its inception with important funding for our field initiatives in India, as well as financial support for communication efforts including a new website which launched in May of 2014.Newman’s Own Foundation also provides valuable insight and guidance for a variety of activities from marketing and fundraising, to field operations. The Newman’s Own Foundation CEO and president, Robert Forrester is on the Safe Water Network board. In 2010, Safe Water Network joined forces with the Foundation to provide technical assistance on a water tower project for the Kiberia School for Girls in one of Kenya’s worst slums. The project supplies safe water to the school, as well as the surrounding community.Newman’s Own Foundation is an independent, private foundation formed in 2005 by Paul Newman to sustain the legacy of his philanthropic work. Funded entirely through the profits and royalties of Newman’s Own products, the Foundation does not maintain an endowment, raise funds, or accept donations. Since 1982, when Paul Newman first declared, “Let’s give it all away,” more than $400 million has been donated to thousands of nonprofit organizations helping people in need around the world.
Since 2010, we have worked with communities in India to develop locally owned and managed Safe Water Stations.
